Moose Lodge 1 at Carpinteria Knights |
---|
| The Knights won 8 of the first 11 games and beat visiting Moose Lodge 1 by an 8-7 score. Paul Nelson led Carp with three wins and moved into the top-five in 'B' Division. Nelson's win in game 11 gave the Knights an 8-3 lead, but that cushion quickly melted away after the Moose swept the remaining four games. Ismael Reyes and Gerardo Guerrero had two wins each to lead the Moose. Gerardo and Moose captain Mario Reyes both had table runs. As a result of this match and the two Sportsman matches, 2nd thru 5th place in 'B' is totally up for grabs. 3rd place Moose Lodge 1 (6-3) and 4th place Carp Knights (6-3) are sandwiched between 2nd place Sportsman Nuggets (6-3) and 5th place Sportsman Trojans (6-3). A mere five game wins separates these four teams. |

Sportsman Trojans at Moose Lodge 2 |
---|
| Moose Lodge 2 and the Sportsman Trojans had another one of their classic battles Tuesday, and in this meeting the Moose finished strong and beat the Trojans 9-6. 'A' Division leader Ismael Huerta started his night off with a break-and-run, giving the Moose an early 3-1 lead. Sportsman's Jim Steele answered with the first of his three wins, and after teammate Sami Severson notched her second win of the match, the Tojans had evened the score at 3-3. The two teams went on to trade wins thru the second frame, and at the start of the beer frame the score was knotted at 5-5. The Moose quickly reached the hill after Alfonso Lazaro and Ramon Rodriguez beat Leana Finley and Robert Rosa. Steele's third win gave the Trojans a fleeting chance at a comeback, but Huerta slammed the door shut on Sportsman with his game 14 win over Bob McLean. Alfonso, Ramon, Ismael, and Rigo Morales were all two-game winners for 2nd place Moose Lodge 2 (8-1). The loss was costly for the Sportsman Trojans (6-3) as it dropped them all the way back to 5th place. A win could have lifted the Trojans as high as 2nd place. |
